Hiberno-Norse (c. 1035-1060), Phase III, Penny, Dublin, in the style of an Æthelred II Long Cross Penny, stylised legend, draped bust left, quatrefoil of pellets on neck, rev. stylised legend, voided long cross, pellet in first and third quarters, stylised hand in second, S in third, 0.80g, 9h (SCBI 8 [British Museum], 108 same obverse die; SCBI 32 [Ulster Museum], 277 same dies; O'Sullivan 20; DF 24; S.6133) some ghosting to portrait and subtly crimped, otherwise attractively cabinet toned, a pleasingly bold very fine
