Hiberno-Norse (c. 1035-1060), Phase III, Penny, 'One Hand' Type, Dublin, in the style of an Æthelred II Long Cross Penny, stylised legend, draped bust left, pellet behind neck, rev. stylised legend, voided long cross, stylised hand in third quarter, 0.69g, 9h (SCBI 22 [Copenhagen] -; cf. SCBI 8 [British Museum], 131; SCBI 32 [Ulster Museum], 244-244a; S.6133), raggedness to edge between 8 and 1 o'clock, otherwise pleasantly toned with underlying colour in recesses, a uniform and bolder very fine, a very rare variety with only one hand on reverse
