One of the Most Difficult Stamps of British Guiana / A Worldwide Philatelic Rarity

4c. black on blue cut octagonally, small to good margins, with corner margins added and rebacked to improve appearance, initialled "E.D.W.", cancelled by coded d.s. for Oct. 1856. Some faults including creasing, thinning and surface rubbing, as usually found and not detracting from this rarity. Only about twelve used examples are known, making this one of the rarest stamps of the British Empire and a great rarity of worldwide philately. Calves certificate (1988). S.G. 26, £150,000. Photo
