12c. black on indigo, Townsend Type B (Robson Lowe Type C), initialled "E.D.W.", cut to an octagonal shape with round frameline mostly intact, slightly cut into at left, apparently unused but showing traces of black ink cancellation; washed, a couple of pin holes and vertically creased, of little significance for this stamp, being the rarest shade of the 12 cents, as confirmed by the only eleven examples recorded by Townsend.
