D .' G .' AnG .' FR .' ET .' hI | B REGINA ., Queen holding orb and sceptre, seated three-quarters facing in Tudor Galleon, set with double-rose, ornaments -1 | 1-1, ropes 3/3, sails 2/4, E on standard and sails on bowsprit, calm waters lap below, rev. (m.m.) IhS .' AVT .' TRAnSIEnS • PER • MEDIV .' ILLORVM • IBAT •, rose upon radiant sun, alternating crowned Leopards and floriate cross terminals in angles, small trefoils in spandrels, 7.54g [116.36grns], 7h, m.m. escallop (Brown & Comber B6; Schneider I, 785 same dies; North 2004; S.2530), struck with aging dies, otherwise a sumptuous and original specimen, sharply and uniformly struck up for issue, almost extremely fine, with an excellent pedigree and accompanying traces of red wax in recesses from historic illustration, in NGC Black 'Carrington' holder, graded AU58 (Cert. #8534361-011)
