(x) NGC MS63 | *Top Pop* | Edward III (1327-1377), Third Coinage, Third Period, Noble, 1346-1351, struck for his 20th Year, Tower (London), ED | WAR : D : GRA : REX : ANGL : Z : FRANC : DNS : hYB, large, taller lettering, double saltire stops, King standing in ship, holding sword and shield, ropes 3/2, ornaments 11-11-11--, quatrefoils 4/4, rev. + : IhC : TRANSIENS : PER : MEDIVM : ILLORVM : IBAT : chevron-barred A, double saltire stops, bifoliate floriate cross with lys at limbs, large E at centre, 8.287g [127.9grns], 3h, i.m. cross pattée (Schneider I, 4; Potter 2a, dies 9/13; Norweb 126 this coin; North 1110; S.1481), a trace off-struck on a broad round flan and some softness to King's visage, otherwise an exceptional specimen for class, with spots of cabinet tone appearing in mint-fresh, honey golden fields, practically as struck, and amongst the finest known specimens of this extremely rare type, in NGC Black 'Carrington' holder, sensitively graded MS63 (Cert. #8534362-001) [*Single Finest Certified*]
