(x) NGC AU | Edward III (1327-1377), Third Coinage, Third Period, Quarter-Noble, 1346-1351, struck for his 20th Year, Tower (London), :+: EDWAR x R x AnGL x Z x FRAnC x D x hYB, chevron-barred As, single saltire stops, Royal Shield quartered with the Arms of France and England, all within a double tressure of six arches, with trefoils in spandrels, rev. :+: EXALTABITVR : In : GLORIA :, chevron-barred As, double saltire stops, floriate cross, trefoil and leopard in each angle, large E at centre, 2.014g [31.08gns], m.m. cross pattée (Schneider I, 8; Doubleday 5-8; North 1112; S.1483), tiny graffito mark above shield, and some traces of crimping to an otherwise fuller, round flan, the central devices crisp and uniform for issue, a pleasing and bolder very fine, in NGC Black 'Carrington' holder, fairly graded Almost Uncirculated (Cert. #8534366-002)
