(x) NGC MS63+ | William III, Solus (1694-1702), 'Fine Work' Five-Guineas, 1701 DECIMO TERTIO, 'Plain Sceptres' Variety, second laureate head right, rev. crowned shields cruciform, plain sceptres in angles, •+ DECVS • ET • TVTAMEN • ANNO • REGNI • DECIMO • TERTIO +, downwards on edge, 41.779g [644.75grns], 5h (Stratos -; MCE 172; Schneider II, 481; EGC I, 399; GH 61; S.3456), overt but largely unobtrusive haymarks before truncation and in second quarter of reverse, otherwise with glorious mint bloom, handsomely original and with playful cartwheel lustre, a most imposing extremely fine, a wonderful example of Sir Isaac Newton's superlative-inducing Royal Mint canon, in NGC Black 'Pallas' holder, graded MS63+ (Cert. #8534311-015)
