South Africa 1834-53 (3283 Pte. L. Hutchinson. 74th Regt.), officially engraved naming, with attractive silver pin brooch, this engraved 'DUNO STATION', good very fine

Lawrence Hutchinson was born in 1830 in Fife and was a weaver by trade upon his joining the 42nd Highlanders in August 1848. During his career he served in Bermuda (7 months), the Cape (1 year 1 month) and the East Indies (5 years 6 months). He had transferred to the 74th Highlanders in February 1852 and was discharged in January 1860; sold together with copied service record.
