(x) Waterloo 1815 (Edwd. Marcon. Lieut. 54th Regt. Foot.), renamed, with replacement straight-bar suspension, polished, contact marks, some edge wear, nearly very fine

Edward Marcon is confirmed on the Waterloo Roll as having served as a Lieutenant in Captain Kirby's Company of the 1st Battalion 54th (West Norfolk) Regiment of Foot. Though the 54th (along with the 35th, 59th and 91st regiments of Foot) were in Belgium during the Hundred Days' campaign, they were stationed too far from Wellington's position to participate in the battles of Quatre Bras or Waterloo - but all four regiments were nevertheless granted the Waterloo Medal. They joined the army for the advance into France and formed part of the Army of Occupation until sent home in November 1815.
Marcon later became a Captain (3 January 1822) and was moved to Half Pay on 6 February 1823 while serving as a Captain in the 78th Regiment of Foot; sold together with copied medal roll entry.
