Peter Lee was born on 9 September 1923 and enrolled into the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (South Africa) at Durban on 15 December 1941. He served on Afrikander II briefly from 13-30 January 1942 and Afrikander I from 31 January to 30 March 1942 before serving on Birmingham for nearly a year from 31 March 1942 until 13 March 1943. Lee then saw service on Ceres from 14 March to 2 November 1943 ahead of serving on Victory between 3 November 1943 and 12 January 1944. He then served on Assegai from 15 January to 15 May 1944 before just one day of service on Kongari on 16 May 1944. Lee then served aboard Manchester City from 17 May 1944 to 30 May 1945, ahead of seeing service on Anderson from 31 May to 10 September 1945, with brief bouts of service on Mayina from 11 September to 5 October 1945 and Kongari from 6 October to 6 November 1945. Lee was discharged on 18 February 1946 and his medals were despatched on 15 January 1952; sold with copied service papers and a uniform riband bar with same compliment of medals.
