(x) Six: Lance Corporal A. M. Currie, 1st Light Horse and Kimberley Regiment

1939-1945 Star; Africa Star; Italy Star; Defence Medal; War and Africa Service Medals 1939-45, all named '23167 A. M. Currie', mounted as worn, very fine (6)

Andrew Mathew Currie was born on 1 October 1912, he was a bank messenger before he attested into the Kimberley Regiment on 20 August 1940. Promoted to Lance Corporal in 1942, he served with the Kimberley Regiment and 1st Light Horse Kimberley Regiment in Egypt between 19 April 1943 and 14 April 1944. Currie then served in Italy from 15 April 1944 to August 1945. He embarked in the Middle East on 17 September 1945 for return to South Africa, disembarking at Durban on 1 October 1945 and was later discharged on 7 November 1945. His service papers confirm the medals listed which were despatched to him on 29 September 1952. He died in June 1986.

Slip stating he is entitled to wear the Unit Shoulder Title of the 1st Light Horse Kimberley Regiment, dated 18 July 1944. With two of the shoulder titles
