(x) Six: Lance-Bombardier G. Tait, South African Artillery

Graham Tait was born at Oudstshoorn on 2 September 1921 and was an Office Equipment mechanic prior to joining the South African Artillery, which he joined on 15 August 1942 at Port Elizabeth. He was posted to Potchefstroom to undergo training and on arrival was transferred to the 23rd Field Regiment SAA. He departed Durban on 19 April 1943 and served in Egypt between 30 April 1943 and 13 April 1944 and his unit formed part of the 6th SA Armoured Division Artillery for service in Italy. He served there from 14 April 1944 to 23 October 1945, being wounded on 8 July 1944 but remaining on duty. Tait was promoted to the substantive rank of Lance Bombardier on 16 April 1945 and was R.T.U. on 27 December 1945 and discharged on 31 January 1946; sold with copied service papers and medal slip, his service papers confirming his medal entitlement.
