(x) Army L.S. & G.C., V.R. (4. Hospl. Serjt. Henry Goddard C Brigade RHA), extremely fine and scarce
Approximately 1303 Victorian Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medals were issued to the R.H.A., with only 7 to Hospital Sergeants.
Henry Goddard a native of Hailsham, Sussex attested in the R.H.A. on 13 July 1844 in 3rd Troop, 1st Brigade, Bengal Royal Artillery in which he served for the bulk of his army service. He transferred to the R.H.A. on 4 May 1861; his last appointment was as Hospital Sergeant, 2nd Brigade, R.H.A., he was discharged through illness on 24 May 1864. His Long Service Medal was approved in December 1865 with a £10 gratuity; sold together with copied service papers and research.
Further entitled to the Punjab 1848-49 medal.
