(x) Army L.S. & G.C., V.R. (2433. Cr. Sgt: J. Linn. Durh: L.I.), small edge bruise to the reverse, otherwise very fine

John Linn was born at Weedon, Northamptonshire 17 March 1863 and enlisted at Belfast, Northern Ireland on 17 March 1863. Serving at Malta from 3 October 1868 - 4 February 1872 then in the East Indies between 5 February 1872 - 14 January 1881, his papers state that he served in the Reserve Field Force in the first phase of the Afghan Campaign of 1879.

He then joined to Natal South Africa from 15 January 1881 - 3 January 1883 and served in the First Boer War, being is noted as suffering pain and palpitations on a march to Laing's Nek in January 1881, completing his service on 3 January 1883, before returning home where he completed his service.

Linn was discharged at Bishop Auckland on 30 April 1898 as a result of being medically unfit for further service.

Despite his extensive overseas service this is his only entitlement.
