Army L.S. & G.C., V.R. (J. Andrews, T. Serj. Major 11th Hussars. 1845.), fitted with a blank Military General Service style clasp possibly for a personalised engraving
Joseph Andrews was born at Chesterford, Essex and was a Labourer by trade. He enlisted into the 11th Light Dragoons on 14 May 1821 and was promoted to Corporal on 26 May 1825 and to Sergeant on 10 December 1828 and finally to Troop Sergeant Major on 4 September 1838. He served a total of 15 years and 6 months in the East Indies and was present at the Siege and Capture of Bhurtpore. He was considered unfit for further service as per a Medical Report and was discharged in Dublin on 15 May 1845.
He is entitled to an Army of India medal with the clasp Bhurtpore.
