Edward Threlfall was born in Lancashire around 1890 and was living at Ashton-on-Ribble when he attested with the Royal Field Artillery in 1914 . Entering the war in France on 2 September 1915 with the rank of Farrier Sergeant. Serving with 'C' Battery, '75' Brigade he saw heavy fighting in 1918 with the Brigade being present at Arras, Canal du Nord, Cambrai and the Hundred Days. He was discharged on 31 March 1920
