Alfred Rawling was a native of Newton Heath, Manchester and entered the war in Egypt on 4 March 1915. Serving with 42 Divisional Signals Company, Royal Engineers and earned the M.M. with them after they joined the war in France. He was posted to the Army Reserve on 11 March 1919.
