Thomas Tugday was born at Kingston Deveril, Warminster, Wiltshire in 1861 and joined the 4th (Militia) Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry on 18 June 1892. Posted to the 2nd Battalion for service in Burma he later rejoined the Militia and served with them during the Anglo-Boer War; sold together with two copied Militia attestations.
