(x) The Egypt Medal to Chief Engine Room Artificer C. J. B. Callaway whose career in the Royal Navy was marred by disgrace when he was dismissed in 1894 and forfeited any rights to return to England

Charles James Bateman Callaway was born at Plymouth on 6 May 1855. He enlisted in the Royal Navy as an Acting E.R.A. on 13 October 1881. His service was described as good on 31 December 1893, he was however dismissed from the Royal Navy at Sydney on 1 November 1894 for being absent without leave. The sentence of the court martial included the harsh forfeiture of all rights to return to England on his dismissal. He died at Cudal, New South Wales on 18 September 1902; sold together with copied research.
