Auction: 24033 - The "KMC" Collection of Stamps and Covers of Mexico
Lot: 142
(x) Mexico
1864 "Eagles" Issue
Chihuahua-Allende 1r. Blue, 4th Period, consignment 169-1865, good margins for the most part, close at left. This stamp does not have the overprint but is cancelled in Allende. Mepsi no opinion. Potentially a new discovery. As recorded in the Pietsch census, only one single example and one cover are known. 2024 MEPSI certificate. Scott 21; NF$900 with the sub-office overprint.
Note: Most stamps from this district do not have the district overprint and were not used, as the Juárez forces controlled this state for most of the time. Chihuahua City and five sub-offices applied their own overprint, which makes used stamps with overprints extremely rare.
