1864 "Eagles" Issue
Chihuahua 2r. Yellow and 1r. Blue, 4th Period, consignment 169-1865, Chihuahua overprint, both well-margined, used on a very fine entire letter dated January 9, 1866, cancelled with Chihuahua h.s. As stated in the Pietsch census, just four singles and one cover exist for the 1r. value, and two singles and two covers represent the 2r. 2024 MEPSI certificate. Scott 21, 23; NF $700 for singles off cover.

Note: Most stamps from this district do not have the district overprint and were not used, as the Juárez forces controlled this state for most of the time. Chihuahua City and five sub-offices applied their own overprint, which makes used stamps with overprints extremely rare.
