1856 Issue
Mexico District 1r. Yellow, vertical strip of four with frame line at right and four singles, mostly with good to large margins, all tied by dispatch c.d.s. on cover from Mexico City to Guadalajara. Vertical crease affecting two singles at right. A curious manuscript contemporary note on the reverse states: "Abierta y vuelta a cerrar por" ("opened and resealed by..."), signed by Ramón Fernández, likely indicating that the addressee did not accept the contents of the letter. An exceptional, high eight reales franking. Scott 2; NF $250 for strip of four.
