Rio de Janeiro (RJ). 60r. black, horizontal pair displaying full to very large margins, cancelled by "correio geral da corte/25/5/18-44" c.d.s. and affixed to reverse of cover addressed to Maranhão; vertical crease affecting one stamp. The c.d.s. does not apparently tie the cover, though the letter is dated inside 25 de Maio de 1845, thus matching the date of the cancellation. Recorded in the Bernd Juchert census of 2015. No more than 40 covers known bearing this franking. RHM 2. Photo

Note: This letter is illustrated in the "Bull's Eyes on Cover" handbook by Bern Juchert (2015), and described as "another letter (repaired) dated 25 May 1845 to Maranhão. Further information would be welcome".
