The Sitwell Correspondence
It is believed Macloutsi was opened in June 1891 to deal with mail from the Pioneer Column who had enterered Mashonaland in July 1890. The sender of the following letters, Captain William Henry Sitwell, served with the Bechuanaland Border Police and was stationed at Macloutsi 1891-93
1892 (28 June), (5 July) and (19 July) envelopes (all with enclosure) to Beal, the first two bearing 1888 6d. and the last 1891 6d., all tied by "macloutsi" with another strike alongside and showing, on reverse, Vryburg transit datestamp; all with peripheral creases due to contents
