It is believed Macloutsi was opened in June 1891 to deal with mail from the Pioneer Column who had enterered Mashonaland in July 1890. The sender of the following letters, Captain William Henry Sitwell, served with the Bechuanaland Border Police and was stationed at Macloutsi 1891-93
1892 (14 Aug.) double rate envelope (with enclosure) to Beal, bearing 1888 1/- tied by "macloutsi" c.d.s. with another strike alongside and showing, on reverse, Vryburg transit datestamp. Photo
