It is believed Macloutsi was opened in June 1891 to deal with mail from the Pioneer Column who had enterered Mashonaland in July 1890. The sender of the following letters, Captain William Henry Sitwell, served with the Bechuanaland Border Police and was stationed at Macloutsi 1891-93
1892 (31 May), (14 Aug.) and (21 Aug.) envelopes (the last two with enclosure) to Beal, the first bearing 1888 6d., the second 1891 6d. and the last 2d. and 4d., all tied by "macloutsi" c.d.s. and showing, on reverse, Vryburg transit datestamp; the last two with peripheral creases due to contents
