A Very Rare "CAW" 4 Cents Magenta on Cover

1856 (17 Mar.) envelope ex the Barlow correspondence to Mahaicony, bearing 4c. black on magenta cut octagonally with small margins, initialled "C.A.W.", centrally cancelled (not tied) by Demerara double-arc d.s. and showing another very fine strike on reverse; the 4c. with some surface rubbing. Fewer than fifteen covers are recorded bearing this stamp, including almost ten cut octagonally, with this example having the added attribute of the elusive 'CAW' initials (most known covers have the stamp initialled 'EDW').
