Provenance

The Alfred Leonard Fuller of Bath Collection (1870-1941)

Acquired from Messrs Spink & Son, 13 July 1898 - £0.5.0

Spink Numismatic Circular, July 1898 (P.2884, no. 46832) - "1743, Older head. Rev. Roses, very fine" - £0.5.0

Evidently Fuller's purchasing power for most of 1898 became significantly reduced after his monumental shopping spree of 10 February. This is beautifully demonstrated here as he overlooked no. 46831 - 'A magnificent perfect coin, scarce, F.D.C.' of the same type at £0.12.6. The sensation of money not quite stretching far enough to satiate your collecting passion is a feeling that clearly echoes through time!
