George II (1727-1760), Shillings (2), Welsh "Plumes" Issue, 1727, E over R in GEORGIVS, young laureate, draped and cuirassed bust left, rev. four crowned shields cruciform, plumes in angles, eight or ten strings to harp, five hearts, edge obliquely milled, 5.94g, 6h (ESC 1189; Bull 1694 eight strings [?]; S.3697), overt scratches on obverse and a cut on edge by EO of GEORGIVS, with light haymarking both sides, otherwise lightly toned, very fine, rare, another, 'Plain' Issue, 1728, exactly as before, rev. nine strings to harp, hearts not clear, edge obliquely milled, 5.98g, 6h (ESC 1191; Bull -, cf. 1698 albeit E over R not noted, nor nine strings recorded for type; S.3699), haymarking to reverse, otherwise colourfully cabinet toned and lustrous, a bolder very fine (2)
