Charles I (1625-1649), Group I, Pennies, Tower (under King) (3), Type Ia, 7 July 1625 - 26 June 1626, (m.m.) C • D • G • ROSA • SINE • SPINA, double rose, wire-line inner circle, rev. (m.m.) IVS • THRONVM • FIRMAT, double rose, wire-line inner circle, 0.572g, 8h, m.m. lys [both sides] (Brooker - cf. 694; North 2261; S.2837), some striking softness to central devices, otherwise richly cabinet toned, almost very fine; another, Type Ib, similar, but no inner circles either side, 0.489g, 4h, m.m. two pellets (Hawkins -; Brooker 695-697; North S.2262; S.2839), slightly chipped otherwise richly cabinet toned and lustrous, a bolder very fine; lastly, similar to last, but dotted inner circle both sides, 0.513g, m.m. two pellets (Hawkins -; Brooker -; cf. North 2261; S.-), struck on a small flan, otherwise cabinet toned with traces of porosity, very fine (3)
