Elizabeth I (1558-1603), Sixth Issue, Halfgroats, Tower (3), 1 December 1583 - 13 February 1585, (m.m.) E .' D .' G .' ROSA .' SINE .' SPINA .' beaded inner circle only, crowned and draped bust 6D left, two pellets behind head, rev. (m.m.) CIVITAS LONDON, beaded inner circle only, square-topped shield over long cross fourchée, 1.003g, 7h, m.m. A (BCW A-2/A-b1; North 2016; S.2559), rubbed and crimped, otherwise toned with hints of lustre, fair; another, 14 February 1585 - 30 May 1587, similar but bust 6E, 0.781g, 9h, m.m. escallop (BCW SC-3/SC-b1; North 2016; S.2559), historic marks on portrait, otherwise handsomely cabinet toned, struck details almost very fine; lastly, 1 June 1587 - 31 January 1590, as last, 1.161g, 12h, m.m. crescent (BCW CS-1/CS-b2; North 2016; S.2559), rubbed but toned on a broad flan, strictly fair / almost very fine, and historic as struck at the time of the Spanish Armada (3)
