SPINA .' beaded inner circle only, crowned and draped bust 6D left, two pellets behind head, rev. (m.m.) CIVITAS • LONDON • beaded inner circle only, square-topped shield over long cross fourchée, 1.102g, 7h, m.m. bell (Hawkins 447; BCW BL-4/BL-a1; North 2016; S.2559), softness of strike to peripheries, otherwise uniformly cabinet toned, a truly delightful and remarkable example, about extremely fine, an early striking within the onset of the 'Sixth' Coinage covering the period of the Anglo-Dutch Wars and Spanish Armada; truly rare in this outstanding grade for type!
