Edward I (1272-1307), 'Longcross' Pennies (7), Bury St Edmunds (2), under Moneyer Robert de Hadeleie, Class 4b, 1282-1289, EDW R ANGL DNS HYB, crowned bust facing, drapery in two parts, rev. ROBERT DE HADELEIE, long cross and trio of pellets in angles, 1.444g, 2h (Tatler dies L/l1; SCBI North -; North 1024; S.1417 [1395 for type]), struck flat for issue, nevertheless cabinet toned and lustrous, an immensely short-lived and curious St. Edmundsbury issue, strictly fine / almost very fine, but very scarce; additionally, Class 9b2, 1299-1301, star on breast, fleurs with straight ornaments, rev. VILL SCI EDMVNDI, 1.387g, 2h (North 1037/2; S.1418 [1408 for type]), toned with underlying colourful hues, fine; also, York (Royal), Class 3e, 1280-1281, rev. CIVITAS EBORACI, 1.389g, 3h (North 1020; S.1429 [1391 for type]), some die clashing, otherwise toned, almost very fine; another, Class 3e, 1280-1281, Episcopal Issues (2), as last, rev, quatrefoil at centre of long cross, 1.158g, 2h (North 1020; S.1430 [1391 for type]), cabinet toned, almost very fine; another, as last, but with additional quatrefoil on breast, 1.463g, 2h (North 1020 variety; S.1430 variety [1391 for type]), cabinet toned, a bolder fine / almost very fine but some scuffing to high points, a scarcer variety; another, Class 9b2, 1299-1301, Royal Issue, star on breast, rev. plain at centre of reverse, 1.428g, 10h (North 1037/2; S.1429 [1408 for type]), on a square-cut flan, otherwise richly cabinet toned with underlying lustre, good very fine, scarce; lastly, Class 9b1, 1299-1301, Episcopal Issue, as last, no star on breast, rev. quatrefoil at centre, 1.287g, 8h (North 1037/1; S.1430 [1408 for type]), rubbed but cabinet toned, a bolder fine, also scarce (7)
