The L'Abbaye Collection: Part Two | George I (1714-1727), 'Roses and Plumes' Shilling, 1722, GEORGIVS • D ' G • M • BR • FR • ET • HIB • REX • F • D • first laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, rev. 22 • BRVN ET • L • DVX S • R • I • A : TH • ET • EL • 17, crowned shields cruciform, six strings to harp, six hearts to semée, roses and plumes in angles, edge obliquely milled, 6h (Pywell-Phillips 274; ESC 1174; Bull 1581; S.3645), die cudding before truncation and a die break from tip of laurels, with rub to portrait, otherwise toned, a bolder fine / very fine, and much scarcer than the standard reference works would indicate
