The L'Abbaye Collection: Part Two | Charles II (1660-1685), Shilling, 1673, CAROLVS • II • - DEI • GRATIA, second laureate and draped bust right, no stop before DEI, rev. HIB over FRA [?] stop thereafter, crowned shields cruciform, five strings to harp, interlocking Cs in angles, edge obliquely milled, 6h (Pywell-Phillips -; South Downs -; Bull - [cf. 522]; ESC - [cf. 1037]; S.3375), light surface marks and trace porosity, otherwise lightly toned with bluish hues in recesses, a bolder fine / very fine, the die-sinker's error unlisted in all the major reference works, extremely rare thus
