The L'Abbaye Collection: Part Two | Charles II (1660-1685), Shilling, 1672, CAROLVS • II • - DEI • GRATIA, second laureate and draped bust right, no stop before DEI, rev. stop after HIB, crowned shields cruciform, five strings to harp, interlocking Cs in angles, edge obliquely milled, 6h (Pywell-Phillips 61; ESC 1036; Bull 521; S.3375), softly struck to hair, otherwise sumptuously toned with residual colourful red hues in recesses, a most pleasing very fine, a fine cabinet specimen and surprisingly scarce
