The L'Abbaye Collection: Part Two | Charles II (1660-1685), Shilling, 1670, CAROLVS • II • - DEI • GRATIA, second laureate and draped bust right, no stop before DEI, rev. stop after HIB, crowned shields cruciform, eight strings to harp, interlocking Cs in angles, edge obliquely milled, 6h (Pywell-Phillips 59; ESC 1033; Bull 517 [R2]; S.3375), light rub to hair, otherwise richly cabinet toned, a well-balanced and pleasant example, almost very fine / a pleasing very fine, a rare date, very seldom offered publicly
