(x) General Service 1962-2007, 1 clasp, Northern Ireland (24125987 Tpr. D. Mordecai LG.), mounted as worn, good very fine

David Leonard Mordecai enlisted at South Sheilds on 2 September 1970 and served at home for the first year of his service before being posted to the British Army of the Rhine on 9 September 1971. He served a tour of Northern Ireland from 4 May 1974, at the start of what became a month of severe tension with strikes and several bombings by the U.V.F. with civilians caught in the middle. Mordecai returned to Britain on 8 September 1974 before returning to Germany until the end of the year, returning home he was transferred to the reserve on 21 January 1975. His conduct was described as follows:

'Tpr Mordecai D a hard working, efficient and thoroughly reliable soldier who has given good service to the Army. I have no doubt that in any future employment he will continue to display those characteristics and will be an asset to any employer.'
