(x) Army L.S. & G.C., E.VII.R. (1334 Q. M. Cpl: Maj: J. Marsh. 2nd Life Guards.), light contact marks, suspension slightly bent, very fine overall

John Marsh was born at Brentford, Middlesex in 1861 and attested at Hyde Park Barracks on 21 October 1884 with the 2nd Life Guards. Promoted Paymaster Corporal on 11 June 1893, he was later advanced Squadron Paymaster Sergent in July 1896. Marsh was finally advanced Quartermaster Corporal Major on 3 October 1899, remaining in Britian he was awarded his L.S. & G.C. on 24 April 1903.

Marsh was discharged on 1 November 1905 at Windsor with his character described as: 'Steady & Sober a very good accountant thoroughly honest & trustworthy.' Receiving a pension, he settled with his wife Ethel at 27 Temple Road, Windsor; sold together with copied service papers and census data.
