M.B.E. London Gazette 19 April 1945. An award for services with 56 London Division Provost Company in Italy during the Battles of Camino, Garigliano, Anzio and those on the Gothic Line, which praises his '...continual recconnaisance and quick decisions' in the face of the traffic difficulties faced.
Charles Bennett was confirmed at Orpington Church in May 1931. He firstly served in the ranks of the Corps of Military Police (No. 270701) and was commissioned onto the General List in February 1943. Having been 'mentioned' (London Gazette 11 January 1945, refers) for his actions, he also added the M.B.E. to his laurels before War's end.
Bennett was commissioned into the 9th Lancers (Royal Armoured Corps) in June 1947 and thence served with the Corps during the Korean War - making it a brace of 'mentions' for further services (London Gazette 29 April 1952, refers).
Sold together with Commissioning Document, Bestowal Document and named enclosure for his M.B.E., both M.I.D. certificates, named Communicants' Manual, his identity tags besides other original documents.
