Cornelius Petrus Swart was born in the Orange Free State in February 1897 and attested for military service on 19 January 1915, being discharged in August of the same year on the disbandment of the unit. He then re-attested in June 1917 with the South African Medical Corps and was demobilised in May 1918; he participated in the German South-West Africa Campaign with his character assessed as either 'Good' or 'Very Good'.; sold together with a small file of copied research, including Attestation papers and service history.
