Thomas Robert Leonard served in France from December 1915 with the 7th Battalion, Leinster Regiment. He was admitted to hospital in the field with myalgia on 28 October 1916 and latterly suffered from scarlet fever. Leonard added a 'mention' to his laurels before War's end (London Gazette 4 January 1917, refers).
