John Patrick Brabazon was born on 5 January 1883 at Dublin, the son of Joseph Brabazon. The Brabazon family descends from Sir Edward Brabazon, who represented County Wicklow in the Irish House of Commons and served as High Sheriff of Staffordshire in 1606; he was raised to the Peerage of Ireland as Baron Ardee in 1616 and was succeeded by his eldest son, the second Baron, who was in turn created the Earl of Meath in the Peerage of Ireland in 1627. Today the seat is held by John Anthony Brabazon, 15th Earl of Meath.
Young Brabazon was baptised at St. Michan's Church and by 1901 was working as a Sorting Clerk in the General Post Office with his father. By 1911 he had taken work as a journalist, whilst living at Jervis Street.
Upon the outbreak of the Great War, Brabazon served in France with the 48th Heavy Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery as part of the 3rd Division from 17 September 1914. He was admitted to hospital with diarrhoea on 21 October 1914 and was transferred to Bethune Hospital. Commissioned Lieutenant, his Medals were issued to him at Marlborough Road, Dublin. Brabazon died in February 1976.
