Alfred Ernest Edwards, of Fishponds, Bristol, served with 'B' Company, 1st Battalion, South Wales Borderers in France from 13 August 1914. He died, on 2 April 1915, of wounds received in action and is interred at Bethune Town Cemetery. Edwards's MIC notes correct entitlement to the Clasp for the 1914 Star, and also that his British War and Victory Medals were returned for 'amendment' in 1921.
