Army L.S. & G.C., V.R. (Qr Mr Serjeant James Wade 1st Regt Infy Hyd Cont.), officially impressed naming, slightly loose claw, otherwise very fine

James Wade was born at Theydon, Essex enlisted into the 44th Foot on 23 January 1843 and resigns on the 10 September 1845 before rejoining on the 28 November 1845 into the E.L.I. His service papers state 'Having been called upon chooses Indian rates of pension' and is transferred on 10 August 1851. He receives his L.S. &G.C. medal in 1861 and this is confirmed in the G.O.C.C. dated 23 February 1861 and was discharged on 22 August 1863 having completed 22 years and 143 days service. He is found on the Census as living in Plymouth with seven children.
