Charles Gray served with the 1st/5th (Buchan and Formartin) Battalion Gordon Highlanders throughout the Great War. He was taken prisoner during the German Spring Offensive and held at Mannheim.

Further entitled to the British War and Victory Medals, and a Silver War Badge.
