Benjamin Bristow was born at Amersham, Buckinghamshire on 6 March 1877, the son of William and Sarah Bristow of Holy Trinity, Buckinghamshire. Enlisting with the Militia Bristow was mobilised for service with the Oxfordshire Light Infantry and saw service in South Africa with the medal roll noting that he was stationed with the 1st Battalion.
Enlisting again upon the outbreak of the Great War on 12 December 1914 he entered the war in France on 18 September 1915. Bristow served there until November when he was posted to Salonica, arriving there on 25 November 1915. He survived the bitter fighting and poor conditions here, being discharged on 19 April 1919. Bristow lived until June 1972 when he died at Wycombe, Buckinghamshire; sold together with copied research including census data, medal rolls and M.I.C. as well as discharge papers and an extract from the Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry 8th (Service) Battalion.
