Army L.S. & G.C., V.R. (320. Pte. W. Chamberlain. 6th Dn Gds), minor contact marks, very fine

William Chamberlain was born at Bethnal Green, London in late summer 1842, the son of Daniel and Elizabeth Chamberlain of 6 Ramsey Street, Bethnal Green. Enlisting at Westminster Police Court in September 1860 for service with the 6th Dragoon Guards he was to serve with them for almost twenty-four years. Chamberlain was to serve in Ireland for much of his time with the army, marrying out there and fathering a family. Returning to Britain he was discharged on 7 October 1884 and took work as a Rag Sorter, he died early in the summer of 1917 at Mile End, London; sold together with copied research including service papers and census data.
