Reginald John Callen was born on 26 September 1892 at Horndean, Hampshire and joined the Royal Navy on 4 January 1916. Serving aboard Greenwich from 22 June 1916-22 January 1922, he was awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal on 20 February 1931. Callen was released on 3 October 1938, however he re-enlisted on 31 July 1939 and remainded in service until 25 February 1946.
